Its mission is to enhance civil society’s role in promoting democracy and citizen participation around the world.

 

CIVICUS seeks to appoint a Director of Operations to support the Secretary General in organisational transformation processes and infrastructure to ensure CIVICUS’ continued growth and sustainability in the fulfilment of its mission.  As an advocate of accountability, transparency and democratic governance, CIVICUS aims to lead by example in these areas lending great significance to this role. The primary areas of responsibility are oversight and management of organisational governance, financial and human resources, administration, and information/communications systems.

 

Areas of responsibility include:

·          Financial and organisational planning including the development of the annual   operational planning, budgeting and evaluation cycle;

·          Development of a diversified resource mobilisation strategy and building long term         sustainability by ensuring efficient management of assets and resources

·          Ensuring that CIVICUS is fully compliant with all statutory and legal requirements

·          Strategic leadership of the human resources department

·          Leading the development of contemporary Information/Communications Systems

·          Participation in the strategic planning processes of the organisation and ensuring cross            departmental linkages and synergies.

The ideal candidate should have the following skills, experience and knowledge:

·          Commitment to CIVICUS’ vision, mission and values

·          At least 6-8 years senior management experience in a similar work environment

·          University degree in a relevant field required; an advanced degree strongly preferred

·          High levels of result orientation, resilience and integrity

·          Excellent written and oral communication skills in English

·          Excellent leadership and people management skills

·          Team player with an excellent ability to delegate

·          Experience working in a multicultural environment

·          Familiarity with core IT skills (financial accounting, database management, enterprise resource planning)

 

Start date: as soon as possible

Duration: initially a 2 year contract will be offered.

Salary: USD$67 975.57 per annum
